NEUWERK appoints first partner from its own ranks: Johanna Graf becomes partner as of 1 July 2023

Johanna has been part of our NEUWERK team in the practice area of dispute resolution, litigation and arbitration since 2016.

We are delighted that with Johanna becoming partner we are able to appoint an Associate from our own ranks for the first time. Johanna was the first Associate we hired after founding NEUWERK and she has been a key element in building our highly successful dispute resolution, litigation and arbitration team as well as NEUWERK as a whole. With nine partners (four of whom are female) and 20 Associates, NEUWERK continues to grow organically.

Johanna specialises in civil dispute resolution, especially in litigation and arbitration. She regularly advises and represents German and international clients in complex disputes from various industries before state courts and in arbitration proceedings. She focuses on complex commercial disputes as well as corporate litigation and arbitration.

Johanna’s recent work includes the defence of two former supervisory board members of a bank against a claim for payment in the triple-digit millions in connection with cum-ex transactions as well as the defence of a pharmaceutical company against a claim for payment in the millions by various international claimants arising from a sale and purchase agreement. Johanna also regularly represents various listed automotive suppliers, inter alia, in the assertion of time-critical delivery claims in connection with semiconductors in the context of preliminary injunction proceedings as well as claims for damages in the double-digit million range due to the delivery of defective products. Furthermore, Johanna advises various Fintech companies in a three-digit number of legal disputes regarding loan agreements and financial platforms. She also represented numerous investors in connection with claims against Hamburg Commercial Bank AG (formerly HSH Nordbank AG).
