We use our time and expertise to support pro bono clients in achieving their goals—from development aid and the protection of cultural diversity and the environment to supporting disadvantaged groups. Every project is unique and deserves our full attention.

We are reducing our environmental footprint, promoting sustainable mobility, and acting sustainably. We are taking responsibility for the environment and society through a variety of activities.
NEUWERK takes responsibility – as a business law firm and a member of society. We are committed to climate and environmental protection, human rights, and sustainable projects. Through resource-friendly practices, a sustainable mobility concept, and regional sourcing, we reduce our ecological footprint. Our employees are at the center: we support individual development, offer training opportunities, and contribute to charitable causes through pro bono work and donations. Sustainability and appreciation shape our actions – for society and the environment.
Mobility
Most of us at NEWEURK commute by bike or public transportation. We travel by train where possible. We get our motivation from participating in city-wide cycling campaigns.
Think big, act small
When it comes to sustainability, we are already tackling the issue by taking many small steps. We handle resources with care and adopt a regional approach. From using green electricity, to sourcing our office supplies locally.
Training
Training clever minds is very important to us. We focus on supporting junior staff focusing on the long term. From the very beginning, NEUWERK has always trained paralegals. Our interns get to know all aspects of the law, ensuring a varied and exciting experience with us.
Scholarships for Ukrainian students
Due to the current situation, we are supporting the Bucerius Law School’s scholarship program, which allows five Ukrainians to take part in a one-year Master of Law or business program.
Erich-Kästner-Schule
Each year, as part of a Career Orientation Day, we open our doors to interested students from the Erich-Kästner-Schule in Hamburg. We engage personally with the students and give them an insight into our law firm so that they have an opportunity to learn more about training to be a legal assistant or studying law.
Matched Giving
Each year, NEUWERK donates as part of its Matched Giving campaign, supporting a selected project with a cash donation. Our employees vote on which project to support in the current year. The NEUWERK donation matches the amount that our employees have privately donated to charitable organizations over the previous year.
Donations
We regularly collect donations in kind (clothes, toys, and household utensils) to support various projects in Hamburg. These include a women’s shelter in Hamburg, Hanseatic Help e.V. and JesusCenter e.V. (Diakonisches Werk Hamburg).
Fridays for Future
We support the aims of the Fridays for Future movement and regularly take part in demonstrations in Hamburg. We show our support with our “Respect for Fridays for Future” banner set up on our balcony high up above the Gänsemarkt.
Viva con Agua
In 2021, we took part in Viva con Agua’s “Water is a human right” campaign by having our pictures taken to show support for Viva con Agua's message that access to clean water and sanitation is a human right and raising awareness that a large proportion of the world’s population still does not have secure access to clean drinking water.
